Jean Legault, mardi, à la Cour de justice de l’Ontario. Il avait plaidé coupable dès le départ aux accusations. Le chef retenu dans ce dossier est celui d’exploitation sexuelle. Bien que l’âge de consentement soit de 16 ans, si une relation de confiance, une po-
sition d’autorité ou de dépendance lie les deux individus, la relation d’ordre sexuelle tombe alors sous la coupe de l’exploitation sexuelle et compte au nombre des infrac- tions au code criminel. Les faits reprochés ont eu lieu à trois reprises entre janvier et
mars 2011. Me Ronald Laliberté pour la Couronne suggérait une peine de 12 à 15 mois alors que la défense avançait plutôt un terme de six mois. La peine de neuf mois s’accompagne d’une période de 24 mois de probation. Le juge Legault a retenu comme facteur at- ténuant l’enregistrement du plaidoyer de culpabilité qui a évité l’épreuve d’un procès à la victime. L’absence de casier judiciaire a été également considérée. D’autre part, selon le rapport d’un expert de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa, Marc Villeneuve représente un très faible risque pour la communauté. Né- anmoins, il lui sera interdit de se retrouver seul en présence d’une personne de 16 ans et moins s’il est en position d’autorité, sauf son fils. L’obligation de fournir un échantillon d’ADN et d’être fichés dans les registres des autorités policières sont aussi au nombre des conditions imposées. Marc Villeneuve a indiqué que depuis deux ans sa vie a pris un tournant radi- cal avec ces événements et que c’est une grande leçon de vie. Il dit qu’en aucun cas il pensait qu’il y avait une notion d’illégalité rattachée aux faits mais qu’il regrette infini- ment les conséquences pour ses proches et encore plus pour la victime et sa famille. Speed racer stopped A 19-year-old Rockland man has a traffic court date in L’Orignal later this month. He was clocked at 154 kilometres hour in a posted 90-kilometre zone on County Road 17 on March 8 His car was towed away to the police im- pound yard for seven days, his driver’s li- cence suspended on the spot for the same period of time, and he is now charged with speed racing under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Pot smells The odour of marijuana resulted in a 17-year-old Rockland youth earning a fu- ture court date in L’Orignal. Police were doing a checkstop March 5. One vehicle had a strong smell of marijuana inside. A search turned up a small amount good for a minor possession charge.
