TESLA

TESLA- MODEL X GA3 DOOR CONVEYOR Fremont Boulevard, Fremont, CA.

Total area: 5.3 million sq. ft.

The GA3 door conveyor system for Tesla Model X is a modern assembly method where door assembly and buffering occurs on a separate conveyor before final mating with the vehicle body. High degrees of automation—such as robot - ic Falcon Wing door installation—provide precision and efficiency. This system is emblematic of Tesla’s push toward modular, scalable production.

Scope of Work

The proposed in-floor towline conveyor used a rivetless, heat-treated steel chain running inside a low-profile, lubri - cated steel track anchored in the concrete floor. The chain’s telescoping design eliminates the need for a tensioning system, reducing pit requirements. Door build carts of four swivel castors for easy maneuverability and a retractable towing pin that must be lowered to engage with the chain. Each cart also acquired an accumulating bumper that disengages the tow pin if it contacts a stationary cart ahead, allowing for safe accumulation without jamming.
