RT worked early on when it began to be realized that un- derutilized sites could have a brighter future. Right now, and no time has been better for Philadelphia waterfront prop- erties to redevelop for better future uses. Word from RT’s office in Southwest Pennsylva- nia, where we are proceeding with permit approvals for a number of energy pipelines, indicates that more low cost natural gas will come to east- ern Pennsylvania. This will facilitate a long term revival of waterfront properties, as com- merce associated with moving

goods, providing services and manufacturing products will rebound close to where con- sumer and industrial markets are already present. The historical roots of strong consumer markets in the Unit- ed States include the Washing- ton to New York corridor, and on to Boston. As our railroads continue to rejuvenate to serve both passenger and freight, it is clear that trends are taking hold which include a cleaner environment, use of natural gas which lowers emissions and revitalization of refineries. These trends were not even

thought of ten years ago. Key projects which we are currently involved in and are underway include: - Apartment residential re- development of a steel site at Phoenixville. - Redevelopment of former service stations for retail phar- macies. - Cleanup of dry cleaning flu- id releases at shopping centers, with reuse as coffee specialty shops and sometimes day care centers where appropriate con- trols are in place to preclude contaminant exposure. Remedial technologies have

We know how to obtain envi- ronmental liability releases to facilitate financing. We have focused for the last decade, on ways to complete cleanup at the time of redevelopment which improves cash flow and makes redevelopment of more and more contaminated prop- erties economically feasible. Call me at 800-725-0593 extension 234 if we may be of service, or you can contact me by email at gbrown@rtenv. com. Gary R. RT has added staff this year in response to the strengthen- ing redevelopment market demand, including additional Professional Geologists, and site investigation and remedia- tion oversight personnel. We have even helped companies focus on efficient planning for health and safety and helped property owners to know their best options to get a site “ready for sale”, with efficient redevel- opment following. Particularly strong at the current time are areas of Mont- gomery and Chester Coun- ties, and there are increasing inquiries in the airport area and along the Philadelphia waterfront. It is clear that the fundamentals of stronger redevelopment are taking hold and RT appreciates the oppor- tunity to help property owners profit from a strengthening market.
