If you have received this packet, it is because you will be teaching a class that involves sUAS flight training. Here at Embry-Riddle, we believe that students should receive the training necessary to operate sUAS in real- world scenarios preparing them for the industry. This requires our professors to have all the tools and support necessary to successfully instruct each student to use a variety of platforms and software correctly. Although this may seem like a daunting challenge for new professors, your UAS team at Embry-Riddle is here to help. Please follow the steps below to get you on the right track. WELCOME

STEP ONE: TAKE INVENTORY

To get started, you’ll need to be familiar with the equipment on hand. All items will have a blue Embry-Riddle tag on it, featuring a barcode and tag number. An inventory list can be provided to ensure you’re fully equipped to begin.

STEP SIX: TIME TO FLY

No matter your level of experience, it’s time to fly. Using what you’ve learned so far, you can take to the skies to lead the next generation of UAS. Our UAS team is available for additional training and support as needed.

STEP SEVEN: CHECK OUT OUR TIPS & TRICKS

As an excellent class opener, we recommend that you and your students take a couple of minutes each day to watch one of our short videos to remind you of a safety precaution before you fly.

STEP EIGHT: TIME TO GET THE STUDENTS FLYING

Its time to break out the flight cards provided by the UAS team. Students will need to complete the ground command certification before they get the chance to fly outside. However, once the students get outside, they will have a large variety of flight card certifications to choose from to complete. The flight cards are located on all GAI’s iPad in the Document section, in the UAS resource Sandbox, and can be sent to you by the UAS via email.
