Global legal and sustainable timber forum returns in september 2024

The Global Legal and Sustainable Timber Forum (GLSTF) 2024 is back from 11-12 Sep 2024 with the theme of “Together Towards Reliable and Effective Global Timber Supply Chains”. Organised by the Secretariat of the Global Green Supply Chains Initiative (GGSC) and jointly hosted by the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao SAR (IPIM), GLSTF aims to build legal and sustainable supply chains within the timber and forestry industry. Recent development shows that the timber industry needs to collaborate more closely among stakeholders including timber producers, buyers, processing industry and market players nationally and internationally, to address issues in global timber supply chains arising from the post- pandemic and other uncertainties. There should be a platform to bridge the widening gap between demand and supply for wood products. As such, GLSTF strives to strengthen support for sustainable forest management and the uptake of legal and sustainable wood product supply chains, with the end goal of facilitating the legal and sustainable use and trade of wood products in a stable, transparent and predictable business environment while contributing to sustainable development and climate- change mitigation.
