A NECESSARY SHOW Many exhibitors also agreed that Hanoi market, in spite of its smallness, is an important market to keep an eye on. The establishment of Hanoi Wood Expo was therefore a “right move” — there is a need to connect solutions providers like Nanxing Machinery, KDT, Smart Connected Solutions South East Asia, Global Timber, American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), and many more, with northern factories. This is especially so since the northern furniture industry is not as developed as the southern side. But solution providers should be attuned to the difference in market needs between northern and southern Vietnam. While southern Vietnam mass produces furniture for US and European customers, northern Vietnam produces customised, whole-house furniture products for the domestic real estate industry. Northern factories also produce more panel furniture, while southern factories produce more solid furniture. All in all, Hanoi Wood Expo was not only a successful trade exhibition, but also a necessary one, to start taking Vietnamese domestic sales into account for new revenue streams. P
