Based on feedback from a recent community survey, these convenient, short getaways offer comfortable transportation and memorable experiences: • March 30–31: Amish Country – a relaxing and scenic local landscape. • May 4–6: Grand Rapids, Michigan – featuring a Dale Chihuly glass art exhibition and the Tulip Time Fest, both are excellent seasonal celebrations. • August 24–26: Buffalo/Niagara-on-the-Lake – experience culture and beauty. Winter Break Chess Camp Instructor: Progress with Chess

Championship Challenge Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess Designed for students that have tournament experience or have received prior chess instruction and are eager to enter competition. Sessions will include one hour of interactive lessons and one tournament game. Explore advanced tactics, strategies, checkmate patterns, endgames and openings in a supportive small group setting. Participants will learn from analyzing their games and those of famous masters. Two four-game tournaments. Free entry included with registration.

Camps are conducted by the experienced staff of Progress with Chess, provider of after school programs at over 60 Northeast Ohio, Greater Cleveland locations. Players of all levels, from beginner to advanced, will receive plenty of individual attention in small groups of ten or less, divided by age and skill level. Activities include a healthy mixture of interactive lessons and supervised open play. All participants receive a chess medal and a pizza party on the last day! Half or full day options. Sensei Raphael Lancry has trained in a variety of martial art disciplines spanning over a 30 year period specializing in Karate. Sensei Lancry’s curriculum will include basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of training in the Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karatedo system and self-defense. Training includes Kata (forms), self-defense techniques, striking, blocking, and falling applications. Karate training has been proven to develop discipline, respect, honor, physical fitness, and positive thinking. Beachwood Bison Soccer Academy Beachwood Recreation is proud to partner with the Beachwood Board of Education and the Shaker Youth Soccer Association to provide this quality soccer program in our community. One practice weekly plus either a Saturday or Sunday game encouraging skill and tactical development. There are no tryouts and we strive to provide every player substantial playing time. This will be a co-ed league designed specifically for children ages 5–6 to be introduced to the game of baseball. This program develops motor skills, such as hitting, throwing and fielding. T-ball is a form of baseball where there is no pitching. The batter simply hits the ball off a batting “T”. Children are placed on teams in a relaxed and recreational atmosphere, where no score is kept and everyone bats the same amount of times. Each child will play one game a week. Games played on either Mondays or Wednesdays depending on enrollment. Teams will play other communities. Begins the week of April 27. In this program, the girls will pitch. The basic fundamentals of pitching, hitting, catching and fielding will be emphasized. This league will give the player the opportunity to learn and improve on all aspects of the game. Emphasis will be placed on skill development while having FUN! Games will be played Tuesday and Thursday evenings in one of the communities. Ages: 13-14 years (on or before January 1, 2026 ) Location: Homes games in Beachwood. Away games can include Willoughby, Willoughby Hills, Shaker Heights, South Euclid, Euclid, Wickliffe and Cleveland Heights.

This is the next league up from the Minor League and the development and growth of baseball will be learned. The mechanics of hitting, fielding, and throwing will be emphasized. Baseball pants and hats are MANDATORY. Games played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Games played in Beachwood and other surrounding communities. Ages: 11-12 years (on or before August 31, 2026) Limited Enrollment: 52 Location: Beachwood, Orange, Mayfield Heights, South Euclid, Lyndhurst and Cleveland Heights Pony Boys This league will be for boys interested in playing baseball at the next level as it prepares them for high school baseball. The program will operate on any weeknight. The team will be a part of Willoughby’s League which plays with surrounding communities like Cleveland Hts, Lyndhurst, and South Euclid.
