Winter Break Chess Camp Instructor: Progress with Chess

Championship Challenge Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess Designed for students that have tournament experience or have received prior chess instruction and are eager to enter competition. Sessions will include one hour of interactive lessons and one tournament game. Explore advanced tactics, strategies, checkmate patterns, endgames and openings in a supportive small group setting. Participants will learn from analyzing their games and those of famous masters. Two four-game tournaments. Free entry included with registration.

Camps are conducted by the experienced staff of Progress with Chess, provider of after school programs at over 60 Northeast Ohio, Greater Cleveland locations. Players of all levels, from beginner to advanced, will receive plenty of individual attention in small groups of ten or less, divided by age and skill level. Activities include a healthy mixture of interactive lessons and supervised open play. All participants receive a chess medal and a pizza party on the last day! Half or full day options. After School Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess

Beautiful Beginning Chess Instructor: Progress with Chess Beautiful Beginning is a great way to nurture your child’s interest in the game of chess. We offer a supportive small group setting. Students will learn the moves of the pieces, the rules and be able to play a legal game of chess. Instruction provided by Progress with Chess, a local non-profit organization

Instruction will be provided by Progress with Chess, a local non-profit organization that conducts chess programs in over 50 Cleveland area schools and recreation centers. Many studies have demonstrated that chess improves cognitive and decision-making skills. Beginning students will master the rules and moves of the pieces. More experienced players will learn strategy, tactics, and checkmate patterns. Sessions will include interactive lessons and problem solving exercises, with ample time for supervised open play. Fantastic Foundation includes students who already know the basic rules but have little or no tournament experience. Students will learn tactics, strategies and checkmate patterns, how to record moves and use a chess clock. Classmates will play training games under tournament conditions and receive the necessary skills to enter competitive play with confidence.
