Paxit is also able to offer discounted shipping rates. These offerings are proving attractive to customers faced with projects who are at a loss to complete them with limited in-house resources. “Paxit is offering services and labor that many compa- nies can’t handle on their own and from what we’ve seen thus far, we’ve been a tremendous help to many of our customers,” says Volk. “The investment in Paxit has also been a great asset to VPC.”

As of early July, Paxit had more than 30 jobs it is cur- rently working on or quoting. About 25 percent of Paxit’s customers are existing VPC customers and the remaining 75 percent are new customers, which bodes extremely well for the viability of Paxit as a standalone entity. Customer Satisfaction Volk transferred one of his sales reps from VPC to fo- cus solely on Paxit and the results have been promising. The rep visited a potential customer and saw that their employees were doing some manual work and asked if they needed help in doing the job. The response was an immediate “yes.” The customer was shutting a line down and was being forced to use employees to do the manual labor rather than making more of their products. Adding to the problem was the fact that existing work wasn’t getting done, so the company was losing ground on two fronts Jennifer Hatch, a Paxit production worker, fulfills a order at the company’s 96,000-square-foot facility in Sanford, Maine.
