Roots of Resilience: Building Your Child’s Family Tree
Generational Trauma Cristal Martinez Acosta, LPC-S, NCC Clarity Counseling Consultation and Wellness, LLC Objective: Participants will understand the correlation between intergenerational trauma and handling difficult behaviors during childhood can improve mental well-being within all parts of the school system and wider community. This knowledge can change parent’s perspectives about “problematic behavior” and/or symptoms of trauma and learn trauma-informed responses that may help increase positive outcomes and well-being. This information will also increase caregiver insight to their own histories and potential willingness to address it.

Objective: This session empowers parents of children with behavior difficulties to advocate effectively for their child's needs at Head Start and beyond. Through constructing a family tree, parents will identify their child's strengths, communication styles, and preferences, facilitating collaborative planning with Head Start professionals.

Objective: What intentional choices can you make with your child to support their learning while being a partner in play? We will look at simple strategies that enrich being a partner in play through opportunities for discovery, and actively participating in their play. As responsive partners in play, we will address the growth of the whole child while respecting them and their play. As a result of this workshop, families will be able to engage with their child during play to enhance their learning and development.

The Purpose of the Dental, Oral Health and Immunization Program

Objective: Participants will be provided with preventive, educational outreach and clinical/mobile services to children and young adults of El Paso County, ages 6 months until their 21st birthday and specialty groups so they can establish a foundation to obtain and sustain good oral health.

Parent Intervention Strategies for Toddler & Pre-School Aged Children Clarissa Navedo, M.S., CCC-SLP & Melissa Ortiz, M.S., CCC-SLP Valeo Rehab Objective: The objective of this presentation is to educate parents on the developmental milestones of their toddler and pre-school aged children as well as providing activities and ways to assist this development at home if delays are present. There will also be education on speech, occupational and physical therapy and how these therapies assist with child development when delays are diagnosed. Then let’s dive into understanding your credit score, checking your credit score and reports, getting started with credit, and protecting your credit as we travel on through Your Financial Journey.
Social Emotional Learning and Science Combo

Objective: Participants will be able to walk away with ideas for learning STEM activities that children along with an adult can create. These activities will include using simple items found around the home to have fun this summer while they continue to learn to self-regulate emotionally and enjoy Science projects at the same time.

Objective: Participants will learn and understand the Safety Protocols implemented in the Head Start program to assure children, families and staff are safe regarding any type of emergency.
