THE SPANISH CROWN
THE SPANISH CROWN is a documentary series about the Spanish Royal Family, focusing on the reign of King Juan Carlos I, the first Spanish King to abdicate the throne in the midst of a slew of scandals affecting him and his family. On April 14, 2012, a shocking image began to circulate on social media of the king of Spain that wasn’t meant to be seen by the public. The King was finally forced to respond: “I am very sorry. I made a mistake and it won’t happen again”. The Royal Family’s fairy tale was beginning to unravel and The King would abdicate the throne. But their problems didn’t stop there. From award-winning journalist Ana Pastor, this series uncovers the full story of the Spanish Royal Family by sharing the testimonies of journalists, historians, and sources close to the royal family – the good and the bad, and its impact on history.
