In a small village in eastern Serbia, Mitar loses his mind and kills 12 people and then, in front of Petar, a negotiator from the state security agency, shoots himself in the head after uttering the word “Katabaza”, which evokes deep emotions echoing from Petar’s past linked with the death of his son. Trying to throw light on the motives for the crime, Petar calls on the psychologist Nataša to come in as a forensic expert and determine whether Mitar was mentally ill. Nataša is in a bizarre sexual relationship with a politician, while the defrocked orthodox monk Tihon follows her and taunts her with the story that her daughter IDA is in danger. Petar carries out an independent investigation where he learns that local magic lies in the background of this massacre. A fortune-teller indicates that the problem lies in Nataša...
