03. Introduction To Move for the Planet
Fields Of Change: A Sustainability Handbook
AMANDLA Social Enterprises (South Africa) The Safe-Hub project by AMANDLA in Greater Marikana combines sustainable sports infrastructure with community engagement to drive social and environ- mental impact. The project features a water-capturing football pitch that purifies rainwater for community use, eco-friendly field construction with recycled materials, and youth-led recycling initiatives. Through Safe-Hub, AMANDLA fosters young leaders in sustainability, promoting a model of environmentally responsible development.
Organization Earth (Greece) At the Schisto refugee camp, in Greece, plastic pollution is one of the main environmental challenges of the overcrowded refugee camp, with limited environmental awareness and sports spaces available to play. The programme will allow participants to play play an active role in recycling and in improving the sport and educational opportunities.
The Peres Center for Peace and Innovation (Israel) The infrastructure project in the city of Lod will benefit the community by contributing to a reduced urban heat island, offering various waste management services. Also by establishing a shared community space dedicated to promoting the values of co-existence, tolerance, inclusion among Arab and Jewish residents.

Fundación Tiempo de Juego (Colombia) The Caquetá, Amazon region of Colombia has a highly biodiverse eco-system. However, employment opportunities for residents are generally connected to activities that are detrimental to the eco-system. The planned sports space, with its transversal focus on care for the environment, will increase awareness of sustainable practices and use of resources.
Fútbol con Corazón (Colombia) On the island of Tierra Bomba in Cartagena, Colombia, the organisation will support the creation of a recycling business model in the community to increase income generation for residents while enabling the proper recycling of plastic waste on the island. The main pitch of the island will be renewed using processed plastic waste.
Sudhaar Society (Pakistan)
Indochina Starfish Foundation (Cambodia) In Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the rainy season lasting longer due to climate change, power outages have become more frequent and it’s affecting access to the organisation’s sports field. Through the refurbishment, the programme will be able to maximise the use of the facility and increase participation for more underprivileged youth.
FundLife International (Philippines) The lack of safe spaces in the Philippines means that FundLife is limited in delivering its play-based education programmes, which supports youth to escape poverty and remain in education. The project will provide a climate-resistant space for young people to connect, play safely and access vital educational resources.
The organisation will develop a safe local space to play that prioritises repurposed materials that educate the community around the importance of taking care of the environment. Alongside this, a community programme on eco-sport that promotes water and sanitation education will be implemented so that communities will begin to have a greater understanding of the role they can play in taking climate action.
In rural areas of the Punjab in Pakistan, the public-school systems often have inadequate facilities, high gender discrimination and growing environmental and climate issues, thus limiting the positive development of young generations. The Save our Future project will allow all youth in the community to play an active role, to learn and act together to address climate change at the local level and to encourage healthier and safe environments.
