Tucumcari Bull Test Mission The Tucumcari Feed Efficiency Test (TFET) exists to provide independent, data- driven bull evaluation that helps commercial cattlemen make more informed, profitable genetic decisions. By combining performance testing, efficiency data, and multi-breed genetic tools, TFET is committed to advancing seedstock integrity, commercial profitability, and long-term sustainability of the beef industry in the Southwest and beyond. PERFORMANCE DATA – See the Supplemental Sheet Provided online and at the sale BW = Birth Weight of the animal WW = Weaning Weight of the animal ADG = Average Daily Gain; End Wt – Beginning Wt / Days on feed WDA = Weight per Day of Age; Body weight/days of age FE: = Feed Efficiency; lbs of dry matter intake/ADG RFI; Residual Feed Intake; A measure of metabolic efficiency, where a negative number indicates an individual required less feed to achieve the same gain as his contemporaries. Understanding EPDs and $Indexes EPDs (Expected Progeny Differences) predict how a bull’s calves will perform compared to others of the same breed. CED – Calving ease in heifers (higher = fewer assists)

RE – Ribeye size and muscling Additional traits:

SC (Angus) – Fertility indicator Doc (Angus) – Temperament Angl (Angus) – Foot structure and longevity Stay (Simmental) – Probability daughters remain productive to age 6 $Indexes (Economic Selection Tools) $Indexes combine multiple traits into a single value tied to expected profitability. Higher values indicate greater economic potential within that production scenario. Angus $M – Maternal profitability; best for building efficient replacement females $B – Post-weaning and carcass value; ideal for terminal marketing Simmental API – Balanced index for systems retaining daughters TI – Terminal index when all calves are fed and sold Hereford BMI$ – Maternal index for building baldy replacement females CHB$ – Terminal index focused on carcass value Buyer Tips • Use CED + BW for heifer bulls • Use WW + YW + $B or TI to add growth and payweight • Use Milk, Stay, $M, API, or BMI$ when building maternal cow herds • Use Marb, RE, CHB$, $B, or TI for grid and carcass value • Compare EPDs and indexes within breed

BW – Birth weight (lower = easier calving) WW – Weaning weight (growth to weaning) YW – Yearling weight (post-weaning growth) Milk – Daughters’ milking ability Marb – Marbling and quality grade potential
