WELCOME to the 36th Annual Ferguson Angus Bull Sale It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 36th Annual Production Sale here at Ferguson Angus! Our Mission since Lynn first put a straw of semen in a cow in the spring of 1981 has been to produce practical, common-sense Cattle that work for every segment of the beef industry—but most importantly, for You, our Customer. It’s been an interesting adventure for the last 45 years. From using QAS Traveler 23-4 and Paramount Ambush at the start of our program to Bulls like Basin Jameson, Ferguson Outpace, RSA Ball of Fire, Williams Jonesboro and others, we have continued to select for a balanced blend of calving ease, maternal and growth traits combined with carcass merit required to thrive in today’s value-based markets. Through it all, a good Angus Cow is still the greatest asset we have! We would enjoy having you join us on Tuesday, March 24th here at the Ranch near Agra, KS to evaluate the bulls. The bulls will be available for viewing all morning, with lunch served before the sale which begins at 1:00 by our friend Dan Johnson who is a master at preparing beef served with all the fixings and desserts that include his specialty, homemade ice cream (he does a pretty good job of fixing our Dodge Trucks also at his real job). Buy with confidence as we stand behind our genetics and are committed to your success beyond sale day. If you cannot join us in person, you can make your purchases using DVAuction. The bulls are here at our East Headquarters in the Feedlot always ready for your inspection before the sale. Folks come by frequently and look through the bulls this time of year. Brice and Lynn are always ready to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your continued trust and for allowing Ferguson Angus genetics to be a part of your operation! We
look forward to seeing you at the Ranch. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Lynn and Lori Ferguson rely heavily on data as they make management decisions for their herd.
Reprinted from Midwest Messenger Nestled on the plains of north central Kansas, roughly halfway between Denver and Kansas City, Ferguson Angus has stood proudly since 1946. The family-run operation, owned and run by Lynn and Lori Ferguson as well as their nephew and his wife, Brice and Vicki Korobka, breeds registered Angus cattle and raises corn, wheat, soybeans, alfalfa, grain sorghum and for- age sorghum. “Ferguson Angus is a family operated farm and ranch who love to grow great crops and the best black Angus that ge- netics, technology and the environment allows,” said Lynn Ferguson. While the operation was started by Lynn Fer- guson’s parents, Fergu- son bought his first reg- istered Angus cattle in 1972 and hasn’t looked back. In the early 1980s,
he started an AI pro- gram, which he contin- ues to run today. Ferguson is a self-de- scribed numbers guy, with data playing a key role in his operation. “I have been very ex- cited about the Angus GS data that DNA generates and the value and accu- racy it adds to the per- formance EPDs,” he said. Angus GS is a genomic selection tool from Neo- gen, built specifically for Angus cattle in partner- ship with the American Angus Association. Ferguson’s selection process isn’t something he takes lightly, and the Angus GS data is just one small part of it. The first two selections of the sale bulls are done during weaning. Fergu- son, along with his wife and nephew, assess each and every bull both vi- sually and on the scale. If any of them determine the bull doesn’t meet their rigorous standard,
Also part of the operation is Ferguson’s nephew and his wife, Brice and Vicki Korobka, shown with their family.

inseminated. Older cows are calved at a proper- ty along the Solomon River with plenty of ev- ergreen trees, sandhills covered with tall grass, sunflowers and five- to seven-foot tall kochia providing excellent pro- tection from the ele- ments. “That combined with the excellent moth- ering ability of a good Angus cow makes for a successful calving sea- son,” Ferguson said. The 34th annual Fer- guson Angus bull sale will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Fergu-

FERGUSON ANGUS COW HERD Our cows are handled much like the commercial cows in our area. Native grass pasture from May to November, graze stalks, either milo or corn, thru January then they are taken to our calving pasture the first of February down along the Solomon River, 10 miles from our house. There, they are fed ground hay (cane, prairie hay, alfalfa) with some silage. We have calved down by the river for many years. Other than when we have a very bad winter storm, the cows are checked twice a day. Being that far from the cows calving has taught us over the years to be very selective for such traits as calving ease, udder quality, mothering ability and disposition.
