More female artists began to work together with male artists, such as Gloria Rebolledo Torres who painted with her husband, Salvador Torres. In 1974, Mario Torero painted “Colossus” with the help of Mano Lima and Laurie Manzano. In 1975, Victor Ochoa painted “Los Niños Son el Tesoro del Barrio” with Rosa Olga Navarro. “Viva La Raza” was painted in 1976 by David Avalos with Denise Garcia, Marisela Domínguez, Rosemary González, and Sophia García. In 1977, Victor Ochoa painted “The Bridge” with Tonantzin Lizarraga. By 1978, Michael Schnorr painted “Chicano Park” with Ana Tellez. More artists came to Chicano Park in 1978 for the mural marathon known as Muralthon: a play on words created by Mario Torero. On one of the pillars, he proposed an image of Frida Kahlo designed by San Francisco artist Rupert García, painted by Victor Ochoa, who also painted “All the Way to the Bay,” which became symbolic of Barrio Logan’s continued efforts to extend the park all the way to the waterfront.
