Our Stories

I started Plaques for Warriors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, as my promise that no veteran’s story would ever be forgotten. At Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial, we help place permanent plaques that carry a veteran’s photo, service record, and personal tribute. These plaques ensure their sacrifices are remembered, not just as names, but as faces and legacies. Families and future generations can stand in front of them and know who these men and women were, and that their service will never be lost to time.

Every Veteran Deserves that Moment By Miguel Alatorre U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Retired) – Founder, Plaques for Warriors

That mission was born from my own journey.

I was born in Tijuana and raised in Logan Heights, a San Diego neighborhood where you learned early about loyalty, struggle, and pride. The streets were tough, but they also taught me resilience and the value of standing for something bigger than yourself. For a long time, I thought those streets were my whole world until I realized I wanted more for myself and my family.
