As you gather experience you will earn more because you will be worth more. One sure way of getting more is to give more and better service with each day’s work.” “What he’d like to do is put his feet on a desk and supervise the elbow work without working his way up.” This came from an older sister who has been unsuccessful in getting Paul to work as much as she thinks he should. “ The sooner that boy learns that the world doesn’t owe him a living, and that hard work is equated with a certain degree of success, the better ho will be. At Paul’s age I wasn’t too keen on work. I know you can’t forget those days.” “ It has been rough sledding at times, Mother. But five suicides on the university campus this year among the student body have made me do some serious thinking on the basics of living. Two of the suicides were freshmen; one a senior about to grad­ uate; two sophomores. On the surface there was no rhyme or reason for their self destruction. They all had everything this world and life can offer. Three were brilliant students. None had to work by the sweat of their brows for their education. But to them, their lives, loaded with the things of this world held no meaning. All of those fellows had too much, too soon, of everything but what really meets the needs of the human heart. How thankful I am for the grace of Jesus Christ “Who died that I might live.” Mother pondered long the words of her son: “ too much, too soon.” The emotional nature of mankind cannot
