NATIONAL COUNCIL ON WEIGHTS AND MEASURES 110TH ANNUAL MEETING JULY 13 - 17, 2025 | RENO, NEVADA

NCWM CHAIR’S WELCOME

There are many other activities and programs scheduled for the week. On Sunday evening the Chair’s reception will be held, giving all an opportunity to gather and network in a relaxed atmosphere. Opening ceremonies will be held on Tuesday morning, and several guest speakers are scheduled to share some thoughts. Closing out that session will be the awards ceremony where recognition will be given to our many volunteers who have contributed so much to the mission of NCWM. The outing on Wednesday evening will be a casual evening at Greater Nevada Field where the minor league Reno Aces play. As you can see, this week will be filled with opportunities for networking, standards development, and education. I hope to see many of you during the week, if you need anything or have questions, please reach out to me, a regional representative, or a member of the NCWM staff. We are here to make sure your meeting is enjoyable, and that you take away something valuable from this experience.

Welcome to the 110th NCWM Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada, held from July 13 through 17, 2025. The meeting is being held at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in exciting downtown Reno. The casino has over 1,700 hotel rooms and suites, and at 42 stories, the hotel is the largest building in Downtown Reno. It spent two years as the tallest building in Nevada. Another interesting note is that The Silver Legacy appears in the 1996 film Kingpin, which features many scenes inside the resort. The 2002 film Waking Up in Reno was also partially filmed inside the Silver Legacy. I hope you are all looking forward to a very exciting and impactful meeting with many opportunities for participation. Sessions on Sunday will consist of Committee, Subcommittee, and Task Group Meetings. It is through these groups that significant work is done to enhance and support the work of the committees as well as the overall goals of NCWM. The Cannabis, Uniform Shipment Law, Fraud Prevention and Education Task Groups, and the Metrology and Women in Weights and Measures Subcommittees, are just some of the groups that will be meeting on that first day. I have enjoyed learning so much by attending and participating in these meetings; I encourage you to fully participate also. It is at the Annual Meeting that the standing committees will take recommendations from the Interim Meeting, where items were given a status, and continue to work with the proposals. During open hearings, attendees will give comments from the floor, which will assist the committees as they consider actions to take during their work sessions. The open hearings allow you to be part of the process and comment on standards, laws, and regulations that impact commence on a national level. The voting session takes place on Wednesday afternoon, where representatives of NCWM decide on many proposals.

Sincerely,

NCWM Chair
