As the seasons slow down to rest for the imminent winter, the days get shorter, and the nights get longer. The crisp bite in the air just before sunrise is more prominent, and the evening boma-braai needs a little more wood to last through the night. For the younger ones, it is the season of the Easter Bunny and an abundance of fluffy marshmallow-chocolate eggs. For the more seasoned nature lovers, it is the time to visit nature, sit around a campfire, contemplate life, and open a bottle of good red wine. April and Easter are synonymous. Cold nights and warm fires also go together, and good memories with great friends make the experience even more special. The Dinokeng Game Reserve was blessed with an abundance of rain for 2025, resulting in significant damage to roads and infrastructure. Most have been repaired, but as new rain falls, new challenges arise. The reserve team is working very hard to get everything in order for the best possible experience for visitors during April. With the abundance of rain, the grass is very thick and, in some places, extremely tall. This does make sightings more challenging, but patience is key when looking for animals in the dense growth. We hope that you have a wonderful stay in Dinokeng and that the memories you create on this visit will last a lifetime. IMPORTANT TO NOTE 1. The first hour of travel through the park is free when using Rust de Winter or Boekenhoudskloof roads, after which the full conservation fee applies. 2. For restaurant day visitors, a visit of up to 3 hours costs R50 per person, with children under 12 free. After 3 hours, the full conservation fee applies.
