As a company committed to bringing international guests to experience the incredible wildlife of Dinokeng Game Reserve, we have several key highlights that set this destination apart. These include its proximity to OR Tambo Airport, the fact that it is located in a malaria-free area, the diverse range of wildlife species found within this relatively young reserve, and the high quality of lodges and services available.
Where are you from?
We are a company based in Switzerland; however, we divide our time between Switzerland and South Africa, particularly in the Dinokeng Game Reserve.
Do you have any tips for capturing great wildlife or nature photos?
The most valuable advice I can offer is to cultivate a deep sensitivity to wildlife. Specifically, I encourage you to acquire as much knowledge as possible about animals and their behaviours, as this understanding will enable you to anticipate your shot even before it occurs. Lastly, a piece of wisdom that I believe every photographer would agree on is the importance of light—prioritise light, light, and more light in your compositions.
What inspired you to take this photo?
That is indeed a compelling story. This image was originally a group photograph featuring a mother with her subadults. I was particularly impressed by one of the subadult’s eye colour and expression, which prompted me to crop the image to focus solely on his portrait.
Where in Dinokeng Game Reserve did you capture this shot?

This photograph was captured in the northern region of the reserve, during a remarkable sighting where mother and her young were playing and resting in the middle of the road.
