THE YOUNG EXPLORER BLACK-BACKED JACKAL REPORT
Did you know that the black-backed jackal is one of Africa’s cleverest and most resourceful animals? With its sharp wits and sneaky skills, this little predator can outsmart much bigger animals! Black-backed jackals are excellent team players—they often work together in pairs to hunt and protect their territory. And guess what? They mate for life, staying with the same partner forever! Fun fact: These jackals talk a lot! They use yips, howls, and even giggles to communicate with their family. If you hear a high-pitched “yip-yip-yip” at night, it might just be a jackal calling to its pack. With their bushy tails, black saddles, and pointy ears, black- backed jackals are built for survival in Africa’s wild landscapes. They can run fast, jump high, and eat almost anything—talk about being adaptable! Our young explorer, Richter, shares his excitement for learning about the black-backed jackal.
