Year One Narratives This term in Year One, we have been learning about narratives. We read many different narratives and explored all their text features. We then followed the stages of the Writing Process to write our own narratives.
Prewriting Stage
Brainstorm: First, we brainstormed ideas for a main character. We had to think about what our character looks like, sounds like and how they act and feel. Model: We created a puppet of our character using a popsicle stick and craft materials. The Year 1’ s made all sorts of characters. We made superheroes, aliens, princesses, different animals and robots. Organise: We used a Story Map graphic organiser to organise our ideas. We wrote down and drew our setting and characters. We also outlined the beginning, middle and end of our stories.
