The nominations for this award are chosen by auction- eers in their profession. The winner is then selected by his state-wide peers based on their excellent leadership, high ethical standards, will- ingness to share with others, participation in community affairs, and outstanding con- tributions to the PAA and the auction profession. Matt has grown Hurley Auctions to be one of the lead- ing auction companies in the auction industry. With head- quarters based in Greencastle, PA, and satellite services in West Virginia and Florida, Hurley Auctions continues to expand offering auction, appraisal, and consulting ser- vices Nationwide, having held auctions fromPennsylvania to California. His commitment to his family as well as his dedication to his church has kept him grounded with the belief that honesty, integrity, and hard work are the keys to success. With over 300 attendees at the conference, the judges of the annual auctioneer’s com- petition had several hundred entries to review. Among the awards received by Hurley Auctions was first place in the following catego- ries: Website Design, Com- mercial Marketing, Personal Property Marketing, and Pro- motional Marketing. Because auctioneering is a consumer- driven industry, PAA auc- tioneers are always striving to improve their services to the public. This competition allows auctioneers to display and share their marketing materials with other auction- eers in an effort to improve this service.
