earn this year’s title. The Bulldogs defeated Alexandria 67- 64 in double overtime in the semifinal round and earned an 86-78 overtime victory over Madison Academy in the title game. In the championship match, JB Potter paced the Bulldogs with 40 points. Teammate Parker Smith had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tahj Phillips paced Madison Academy with 29 points. The Mustangs reached the title round by defeating Plainview 66-44 in the regional semifinals. Phillips had 24 points against the Bears. Plainview had two players reach double digits in the season finale. Grant Nickelson scored 18 points, and Sawyer Wilborn had 10 points. CLASS 4A GIRLS The Plainview Lady Bears defeated Glencoe 55-48 in the Class 4A Girls’ finals to advance to the 2026 Final Four. Plainview reached the Regional Championship with a 52-21 semifinal victory over West Limestone. Cherokee County picked up a 56-14 victory over St. John Paul II. Ellisan Givens paced the Warriors in the semifinal victory with 15 points. Teammate Nevaeh Gaidurgis had 14 points. CLASS 5A BOYS Wenonah won the Class 5A Boys Regional Title with a 48-44 victory over Sipsey Valley. Santez Pendelton led Wenonah with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. In the Semifinals, Wenonah defeated Ramsey 73-57 and Sipsey Valley defeated Moodey 66-28. CLASS 5A GIRLS It was the Serenity Rutledge show in the Class 5A Girls Northeast Regional Tournament. Serenity scored 25 points to help lead Moody to a 55-45 semifinal victory over Northside, and she scored 43 points in the team’s 80-61 championship victory over Springville. Aleigha Rhetta also reached double digits with 14 points against Springville. Teammate Sophie White had 11 points. Springville reached the championship game with a 54- 51 semifinal victory over Jacksonville. Ava Vaughn had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds in the win for Springville. CLASS 6A BOYS The Oxford Yellow Jackets are the Class 6A Boys Northeast Regional Champions. Oxford rolled past Homewood 55-22 in the title game, and defeated Gadsden City 53-45 in the semifinals. Despite the loss, three players from Gadsden City reached double digits in the game. Jedidiah Wynn led the Titans with 19 points. Jakobi Sharp scored 14 points and Kai Franklin scored 10 points. In the other semifinal game, Homewood defeated Mountain Brook 52-40. CLASS 6A GIRLS The Fort Payne varsity girls defeated Mountain Brook 52-37 to win the Class 6A Girls Regional Championship. In the Semifinals, Fort Payne defeated Oxford 58-35 and Mountain Brook defeated Minor 71-51. CLASS 7A BOYS The Hoover Boys are the 2026 Northeast Regional Champions. Hoover defeated Huntsville 61-54 in the regional semifinals and earned a 62-59 victory over Sparkman in the championship game. Michael Glass and Jackson Sheffield scored 20 points in the title game victory. Sparkman advanced to the finals, with a 52-51 semifinal victory over Vestavia Hills. CLASS 7A GIRLS The Hoover Girls also won this year’s Regional Championship. Hoover defeated Albertville 74-36 in the finals and Lady Bucs defeated Sparkman 79-30 in the semifinals. The Lady Aggies reached the Class 7A regional title game by defeating Vestavia Hills 54-35.

The 2026 Northeast Regional Basketball tournament was held at Jacksonville State University on February 17- 24. The following is a brief roundup of each team that competed by classification. CLASS 1A BOYS In the Class 1A varsity boy’s semifinals Appalachian fell to Winterboro 48-46, and Coosa Christian fell to Wadley 72-66. Three Coosa Christian players scored in double figures. Kylen Johnson had 23 points, Mac Long scored 19 points, and Samuel Reeves recorded 10 points. Wadley went on to defeat Winterboro in the Championship game 53-49. CLASS 1A Girls The Winterboro and Appalachian programs also competed in the varsity girl’s regional semifinals. Winterboro won the game 54-24. In the other regional semifinal matchup, the Ider Hornets defeated Jacksonville Christian 70-36. Kennzie Smith led Ider with 17 points, while MaKinley Traylor and Heaven Posey scored 10 points each. In the championship game, Ider fell to Winterboro 49-42. Smith had 14 points for the Hornets. Brynley Traylor scored 12 points, and Heaven Posey had seven points and 13 rebounds. MaKinley Traylor scored six points, and Addisyn Heard chipped in three points. Ider finished the season with a 14-8 record. CLASS 2A BOYS North Sand Mountain earned a 54-29 victory over Sand Rock in the Class 2A boy’s semifinal round. Brody Helton led NSM with 19 points, nine rebounds, three steels, one block and one assist. Jack Johnson led the team in scoring with 21 points. Sand Rock’s Jonas Browder led the Wildcats with 13 points. In the other Class 2A semifinal game, the Section Lions roared to a 73-25 victory over Cedar Bluff. Jacob Cloud led the Lions with 24 points, while teammate Jackson Cooper reached double figures with 12 points. Section went on to win the Class 2A regional crown by defeating NSM 72-53. The Lions had 14 steals in the game. Brodie Overdear led Section with 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists, four blocks and three steals. Aiden Thomas scored 11 points and two steals, while Cloud had 10 points and three steals CLASS 2A GIRLS The North Sand Mountain Girls advanced to the ASHAA Final Four with a 68-66 overtime victory over Pisgah in the Class 2A Girls Regional Championship. Madison Renfro led NSM with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Kaleigh Roberts recorded 15 points, and Kayden Reyes added 12 points. Pisgah’s Alli Romans had a double- double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while teammate Barron Campbell netted a game high 24 points. It was Romans second double-double of the tournament, as she had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Eagles’ 69-48 semifinal victory over Sand Rock. Campbell had 23 points against Sand Rock, while Ella Samples and Taylor Bell scored 10 points each. The Wildcats were led by Maddie Clanton, who had a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. In the other semifinal match, Renfro scored 27 points to help lead NSM past Cornerstone 64-35. CLASS 3A BOYS Whitesburg Christian defeated Westbrook Christian 58-31 in the Class 3A Boys Regional Finals. Whitesburg reached the title game with a 55-40 semifinal victory over Geraldine, while Westbrook Christian took down Collinsville 57-45. Two Collinsville players reached double digits in the Panther’s season finale. Mason McAteer had 18 points and Sylas Adams scored 10 points. Teammate Gavin Lang scored six points, and Bentley Jones added five points. Jenzen Guthrie and Carson Claton scored three points each. CLASS 3A GIRLS The Sylvania Lady Rams fell to Glencoe 57-48 in the Class 3A Girls Regional Finals. Aubrey Morgan led the Rams with 14 points. Glencoe’s Kinlee Montgomery scored 21 points, while teammate Katy Talbot had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. It was Talbot’s second double-double of the tournament, as she had 15 points and 12 rebounds in Glencoe’s 51-44 semifinal victory over Fyffe. Montgomery had 23 points against the Red Devils. Fyffe also had two players in double figures. Sam Galloway had 14 points, and Elli Stone scored 13 points. Sylvania reached the title game with a 47-39 semifinal victory over Westbrook Christian. Aubury Morgan had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Teammate Sarah Graham also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Gracie Black and Mara Anderson scored eight each for the Lady Rams. CLASS 4A BOYS It took Ashville almost an extra game, but the Bulldogs are the 2026 Class 4A Boys Regional Champions. Ashville prevailed in two different overtime matchups to
