Many ORPS residents know Marge Nederveld as a vanguard of our resort. Gord and Marge of Michigan bought into the resort in 2003. Newly retired and knowing next to nothing about RVing, they nevertheless embraced the lifestyle. Marge, an elementary teacher, and Gord, an engineer, were instrumental in the design and funding for construction of a facility many of us find integral to our active lifestyle: the fitness center at La Palma. Marge was a tennis Captain for over 15 years, first in the 55+ and then the 65+ teams. When not on the courts, Marge enjoys walking in the resort, and sitting on her east-facing patio for a morning coffee. Prior to retirement, Marge had a career as an elementary school teacher. They built their dream home directly on Lake Michigan, with plenty of room for extended family to visit and play during the summer. Gord passed a few years ago, but the plaque that bears his name for, “ Tennis Sportsman of the Year ” now includes three from our community, with the fourth to be selected at the end of the season.
