Also three gifts totaling $15,000 were given to the following local organiza- tions: • The Food Trust • Dare 2 Hope • Project Elijah Empowering Autism. We also gave $8,000 to the National Silhouettes Organization to support their efforts to purchase over 2,000 cribs for new mothers in the Philadelphia area. The impact and support of this Lun- cheon was due to the leadership by the committee and this board. Thanks to all for pulling out all of the stops to do good for so many! men of accomplishment through our K100 Executive Leadership Organiza- tion Program led by Director Bob Green. We honored three National Achievers: • Ron Busby, CEO-US Black Cham- bers • Edward McCoy, CEO-Earhart Industries • Willie Woods, Co-Founder-ICV Partners and Chairman of the Board of Morehouse College. In addition, 10 new members joined the ranks bringing the membership, since its inception to over 70 members nationally. Thanks Bob for reinvigorating this group of achievers and honoring the work that they do in Corporate America! We continue to partner and support the Smithsonian’s African American His- tory Museum pledge with our $25,000 annual pledge. This is the third payment from the Foundation to support the $750,000 pledge from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Finally, and not in the least is the sup- port that this Foundation gave to our brothers and communities in need dur- ing the natural disasters that occurred in 2019. These occurrences happened not only domestically but also affected our members internationally. Your founda- tion responded with support from our donors, members and board in helping Also during the 84 th Grand Chapter Meeting, we held our reception to honor
our brothers and those in their com- munities to get back on their feet. With donations of over $17,000 and with disbursements of over $25,000 from our IKARE fund, we were able to purchase food and supplies from our partners at W.W. Grainger and Lowe’s to ship to those in need. Whether the need was in Texas, Florida, Virgin Islands or The Bahamas, your Foundation responded and was right there along with the Red Cross, FEMA and local governmental agencies. We are proud of this work, and our brothers know that their fraternity was there when they needed us the most! A special thanks to our Executive Assistant Mrs. Cheryl Davis for all of the coordi- nation and attention to detail in working with our partners, donors, and recipients in facilitating our response as a Founda- tion. You represent us so well and are a true professional in all that you do. From an administrative and operational point of view, our customer service and responsiveness is at an all-time high. Our Secretary of the Foundation, Director Michael M. Adkinson (Alpha Nu 1976) along with Cheryl Davis, our partners at Mahogany Xan Communica- tions, Advance Meeting Solutions, Ryan Adkins Productions and our software supplier have done a great job! These partners under Michael’s leadership have ensured that our execution, com- munication, annual report and overview presentations and business events are executed flawlessly. Thanks to the team for all that you did in 2019! Your Foundation is financially sound and its assets have grown very nicely year or year. Our assets totaled $3.8 million dollars with our liabilities holding at $580,000. We continued to be chal- lenged with the lack of unrestricted funding, and have worked to improve this area of giving. We give on average each year over $250,000 to the Fraterni- ty’s programs with less than $80,000 in support coming from the Fraternity. We must change this dynamic of support so
that we can do more to underwrite the programs of the Fraternity as a Founda- tion. In 2020, we will launch our most ag- gressive program and initiative since the inception of this Foundation. Our Capi- tal Campaign in conjunction with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc is targeted to raise over $5 million dollars over the next four years to endow and support the operations and growth of this Foun- dation. We believe that this single focus which will support our young people through the Fraternity’s Guide Right Program, Undergraduate Leadership In- stitute, Kappa Kamp and offering more scholarships, will be a direct impact for so many. We also believe that as an or- ganization of educated men, supporting alternate non-college Guide Right paths for our young people, can be impactful as well. Whether it is technical schools, trade schools, or military service, we can help educate and encourage them with financial gifts of support no matter what path our young men of color may take. Also encouraging our young people to think about the future needs of the workplace and those fields that need people of color to be represented such as S.T.E.M. Education is an opportunity for us as a Fraternity of educated men to help influence.
We can do more. We must do more. We will do more!
Thanks for all that you do for this Foun- dation in support of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Yours in the Bond,
Michael James Dubose President Kappa Alpha Psi ® Foundation, Inc.
