a separate ceremony hosted by Dennis L. Via, General, USA (Ret.). Via congratulated Vereen and recognized their shared bond not only as General Officers, but also as Kappa brothers. Major General Vereen acknowledged the many fraternity brothers in attendance and thanked them for their support not only during his military career thus far, but also of the communities in which they live. He as- sumed responsibility as the Provost Marshal General of the U.S. Army and took Com- mand of the U.S. Army Criminal Investi- gation Command (CID) during a formal ceremony June 24 at Joint Base Myer-Hen- derson Hall’s Comny Hall in Virginia. Vereen said he is excited about his new du- ties and responsibilities, saying he will “strive to be the gold standard for all things policing … and will continue to collaborate and share best practices across the spectrum of [our] functions.” Before reassignment to the DC area, Major General Vereen was an active member of the Fort Knox (KY) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He currently serves as the Fra-

ternity’s Military and Veterans Affairs Commission (MVAC) Senior Active Duty Representative and MVAC U.S. Army Representative. He is married to the former Monica Coachman Vereen, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and they have four children Sherelle, Kevin (US Army- Active Duty), Kirkland and Kendall and he is currently assigned to Headquarters, Department of Army (Pentagon). φνπ
