Newly commissioned Navy Officers from the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 2019 become members of the bond

I n June 2019, United States Naval Academy graduates ENS Aaron J. Lewis III (Annapolis (MD) AL 2019) and ENS Fredrick N. Davies (Annapolis (MD) AL 2019) were initiated into our Fraternity along with three other initiates during the East- ern Province MTA. Brothers from the Annapolis (MD) Chapter were engaged in the mentorship of Midshipmen for several years and many of the young men expressed interest in becoming members of the fraternity. In the absence of a current under- graduate chapter at the Naval Academy and due to extensive military training and operational commitments, many high caliber future Navy and Marine Corps Officers are not provided the opportunity to become Kappa men until several years after graduation.

The initiation of Brothers Lewis and Davies was a significant milestone for the Annapolis (MD) Chapter and Eastern Province and has increased awareness of the fraternity at the United States Naval Academy. Brother Lewis is originally from Fort Washington, Maryland and was selected to serve as a Nuclear Engineer in the Navy’s Submarine Officer community. He is currently attending Navy Nuclear Power School at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charles- ton, South Carolina. As a Midshipman, Brother Lewis was a track athlete and served as the Presi- dent of the Midshipmen Black Stud- ies Club, the largest group of minority Midshipmen at the Naval Academy.

of the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award for his outstanding leadership and service in the Annapolis Community. Brother Davies is from Columbus, Georgia and was selected to serve as a Navy Intelligence Officer. As a Midshipman, he initially played basketball and was also actively engaged in the efforts of the Midshipmen Black Studies Club. He is now attending the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course at the Information Warfare Training Command in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
