&/#3&'r#3*&'4 NOMINATIONS AU CSDCEO François Bazinet a été élu sans oppo- sition au poste de président du Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) et Roger Chartrand à celui de vice-président, également sans opposition. C’est le 3 décembre que le vote a eu lieu, lors de la séance inaugurale du CSDCEO. M. Bazinet œuvre dans le milieu de l’éducation depuis 45 ans et en politique depuis 2010. C’est un quatrième mandat pour François Bazinet. Quant à M. Chartrand, il est conseiller scolaire depuis 19 ans. Il s’agit d’un sixième mandat pour lui. – Todd Lalonde, trustee for Cornwall and Glengarry County, was acclaimed for his fourth term as chair of the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO), during the board’s December 4 session. Lalonde has been a CSDBEO trustee for 14 years. Ron Eamer, co-trustee for Cornwall and Glengarry County, was acclaimed as CDSBEO vice-chair. He has been on the CDSBEO board since 1981, and served as both chair and vice-chair during his time. —Gregg Chamberlain FINANCIAL REPORT The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) reviewed the 2018-2019 term financial report, during its November 5 session. The report will go to the Ministry of Education. Total revenue was $189.5 million and expenses totalled $189.1 million, because of staff and administration economic efficiencies, and some opera- ting costs proving lower than projected. The report shows the CDSBEO with an accumulated surplus of $377,511, and an operating accumulated deficit of $881,000, which will be carried over into the 2019-2020 budget period. The report noted that all figures proved better than revised estimates in the December 2018 financial report.– Gregg Chamberlain WINTER FLOOD RISK Cold temperature and almost no snow have created a potential nuisance floo- ding risk if December weather proves rainy. The South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC) has put the water safety hazard at Yellow status for the South Nation River watershed region. An SNC information brief states that water levels are normal for this time of year, but the below-ground frost means that the soil in the region is now saturated from past precipitation. L’organisme de bienfaisance Ronald McDonald House (RMH) est l’heureux bénéficiaire d’un chèque de 14 763 $ de la Bjouterie Markor Jewellers, à Alfred, membre de la Canadian Jewellery Group Co-operative Association (CJG). Les 14 763 $ en dons recueillis cette année, grâce aux activités de collecte de fonds, seront répartis entre les 15 Manoirs Ronald McDonald à travers le Canada. Ronald McDonald est une organisation dédiée à fournir un foyer loin de chez eux, pour les familles d’enfants gravement malades qui séjournent dans un hôpital à proximité. En tant que fier commanditaire, le Canadian Jewellery Group a ramassé jusqu’à présent plus de 170 163 $ pour les organismes de bienfaisance RMH dans des collectivités à travers le Canada.
