(Ham ilton Bros.) $1.25 The Hebrews Epistle, by Sir Robert Anderson, K. C. B ./LL . D. Dr. Ander son is so well known as an exegete th a t to announce a book by him is suf ficient to commend it. (Pickering & Inglis) 3/6 net. The Old Book and th e New Age, by P. W. Thompson, au tho r of “The Whole T ithe,” etc. The question of both the moral and intellectual au th o rity of the Bible is of well nigh supreme importance. The forces and faculties of this new age will, when used w ith u tte r honesty, only lead to the re-establishing of th e old Book. F o r th e Bible is not th e exploded Book of the p ast; it is th e unexplored Book of the future. (M arshall Bros.) 5/ Net. A., author of “Twelve Mysteries of the Bible,” etc. The book was first published as a series of papers in “The W itness”

w ith a view to presenting for Bible students the chief subjects which run through the Gospel of John, the object being to dem onstrate the way in which these chief subjects are woven into th e whole tex tu re of the Gospel, giv ing it a unique character amongst the books of th e Sacred Volume. We commend it heartily. (Pickering & Inglis) 75c The Bible and Science, by W. A. Ayres. The purpose of th is little book is, as the au tho r says, “To clear away the greatly exaggerated difficulties of tru e science, as related in any way to A PROBLEM SOLVED Is it possible to really in terest young boys and girls in studying the Bible during the week? Yes, it is, and it has been done. A large interdenom inational church in Southern California has suc cessfully conducted Week Day Home Bible Classes for children of P rim ary and Ju n io r age, hav ing as many as two thousand thu s enrolled a t one time. These classes were held in homes, a t an hour which would not conflict w ith the regu lar public school sessions, and so interested were th e children in th eir Bible study th a t they would often ru n from the day school in order to get to thé Bible class on time. The lessons used in these classes can now be obtained in book form , en titled “O u 1 1 i n e Lessons on the Life of Christ,” by T. C. Horton, (50 cents), Biola Book Room, 536 S. While fully recognizing all th a t is tru e in n atu re and science, I have yet m aintained steadfastly the m iraculous in th e Word of God, con tending for the unity and absolute harmony of both. The Bible is divine ly inspired of God, true, supernatu ral in itself and supreme, as we would expect a book from God to be.” ' (W est ern B aptist Pub. Co.) The Pedagogy of St. P aul, by Howard Tillman Kuist, M. A., Ph. D., P rofessor in the Biblical Seminary, New York. A new and valuable por tra itu re of th e g reat “Apostle to the Gentiles” as a teacher of the hum an race. The au tho r brings to his study a first hand knowledge of thé Greek New Testament, a scholarly technique of investigation, organization and pre

sentation, and a readable, interesting literary style. The interested reader will find answers to these and many sim ilar questions in th is masterpiece of scholarship. (Doran) $1.75 Exposition of th e Epistles to Tim othy, by W. E. Vine, M. A. These epistles are known as the “ pastoral epistles.” The au th o r’s lectures given a t the St. Andrews Convention in July, 1923, have been extended so as to form a running commentary on these epistles and will prove of g reat value to Bible teachers, as well as preach ers. The outlines are very suggestive and helpful. The church is in dire need of ju st such expositions, and this series would surely insure a good a t tendance a t the weekly services. (Pickering & Inglis) 2/s net. Marion Lawrance, a Memorial Biog raphy, by his son, H arold G. Lawrance. Who among Christian teachers in Sun day School work during the last th irty years has not seen, known or read from th is splendid representative ser van t of th e Lord? He finished his course, b u t he lives in the lives of thousands. This extended biography is heartily commended, as an out standing illu stration of w hat God can do w ith a man, when th a t man is will ing to be used. Nothing outside of the Bible is more in teresting and helpful th an a life-story of a man of God. (Revell) $4.00 Booklets Commended Is AH Scripture In sp ired? by J. C. Ryle, D. D.
