CONCEPT STATEMENT KHONSU
In this project, the task was to build a luminaire to understand the basics of form. The concept of the luminaire is inspired by basic architecture and the album cover of “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd. During the brainstorming process, the initial association with basic architecture led to the Egyptian pyramids. The pyramid is considered to be the oldest and sturdiest man-made construction. When compared to the Pink Floyd album, the triangle has a glimmer of light emanating from one end. This was the inspiration, along with the album’s name, “The Dark Side of the Moon,” which was translated into Egyptian as Khonsu, named after an Egyptian god.
