Education / Qualification and training • HND/HNC in Building Services (E) (AP) • Degree Qualified in Engineering or Facilities Management (D) (AP) • Relevant professional qualifications together with relevant practical experience (E) (AP) • NEBOSH qualified (E) (AP) • High standard of general education including English and Maths at GCSE (E) (AP) Knowledge / Skills • Good verbal and written communication skills (E) (AP, I) • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with an ability to direct/motivate internal and external teams and contractors (E) (I) • Experience of working in critical engineering environments (D) (I) • Ability to prepare accurate reports and summaries (E) (AP, I) • A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation (E) (I) • Articulate, tactful and diplomatic when dealing with staff at all levels (E) (I) • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise workload, whilst working to tight deadlines (E) (I) • An organised and methodical approach to work (E) (I) • Experience of environmental, energy and H&S management systems (D) (I) Experience • Extensive managerial experience with significant previous experience in a similar role (E) (AP, I) • Previous experience of budgetary management (E) (AP, I) • Substantial experience of staff management and development (E) (AP, I) • Previous experience of working in a multi campus university or similar environment (D) (AP, I) • Experience and knowledge of the management and controlled reduction of energy consumption (E) (AP, I) • Knowledge and understanding of the handover and commissioning of new buildings and facilities (E) (AP, I) • Good level of computer literacy (E) (AP, I) • Track record in energy reduction (E) (I) Personal characteristics / Other requirements • A flexible attitude to work proactively towards the team’s objectives (E) (I) • Able to take part in, and manage, the formal “call out” system (which may include working outside normal hours) (E) (I) • Prepared to work and travel anywhere within the King’s College London estate (E) (I) • Driving license (D) (I) • Disclosure and Barring Service – Enhanced Certificate (E) (AP)
