U.S. Government. The U.S. Government is one of the largest employers of Americans overseas. Jobs with the U.S. government include agencies, embassies, and trade offices. You can also find a civilian position with the military, such as teaching on an Air Force Base in Germany, England, or Japan. The source for federal jobs overseas is USAjobs.gov . You can search by position, country, or both. Company Websites. Exxon Mobile, Google, Disney, Apple, Bank of America, General Electric, Accenture, Federal Express, 3M, Medtronic, Texas Instruments and American Express are just a few large American companies that employ millions of people all over the world, and there are many more. Most companies post their open positions on their website. Since overseas positions are often filled from within an organization , many experts recommend taking a job in any capacity with a multinational corporation in the U.S. then trying to work into an international position from inside the company. For ideas, search “Careers with _______ “ (ie. Google, Bloomberg, Apple, etc.)” You can also search "American companies in _______ (ie. the UK, China, Dubai, etc.) Non Governmental Organizations. NGOs are nonprofit, non-government organizations that focus on specific issues, such as human rights, sustainable development, or health . They are located all over the world. The overall goal of NGOs is to advance peace and global well being. From helping tuberculosis patients receive treatment in Cambodia, to rebuilding earthquake-ravaged villages in Nepal, or promoting economic opportunities for women in rural El Salvador, NGOs are a good source of overseas employment. Learn more about opportunities with NGOs through the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO) (wango. org) , OxFam (oxfam.org) , International Development Jobs (devj.org) and USAaid (usaid.gov).
