This is called gentrification .Some economists and activists argue that city governments must do more to protect the ability of people with lower incomes to live in cities with rising rents, either by controlling rents or encouraging the building of new low income housing. They say that these people have a right to stay in their communities even though they don’t actually own the property, and that their presence there improves the communities. However, property owners, economists and some city officials claim that these policies are not good for these cities because they harm the economy by limiting the wealth that can be gained from the appreciation of housing values. They also say that laws to limit rents or mandate the creation of low income housing violate the property rights of the landlords. Your job: Select a role.
