Did you engage other team members?
We involved many members of the team, from the finance department to sales managers and new product development team leaders. Throughout the application preparation process we had multiple meetings to share our thoughts and evidence of the success we had over the previous three years. Before we submitted the final application, it was shared with the whole TensCare team, including videos created and photography used to support our application. Describe any challenges you overcame in the process? We are a talkative lot at TensCare and we found the biggest challenge was condensing what we wanted to say into the short word count required on the application. Now you’ve won an Award, what advice would you give to others thinking of applying? Be prepared to dedicate time to the process and be realistic: if you have experienced consistent, significant growth in trade then you are meeting some of the basic criteria. However, you also have to demonstrate clear strategy and social governance of your business. It is important to make a claim with compelling evidence to support it. How will you use your Award to promote your business going forward? Where possible we use the King’s Award logo on all of our literature, email signatures and of course publishing on our website and social media. TensCare is continuously exhibiting around the world - we use the Queen’s Award logo to broadcast our success. The King’s Award emblem flag is proudly flying at the front of our head office in Epsom.

Would you consider applying again in future?
And finally, could you please share some thoughts on what the King’s Coronation means to you? The King’s coronation was a global moment for the UK. Whilst many may have seen the pomp and ceremony as outdated, a more thoughtful consideration shows it served brilliantly as a reminder of succession and service and how - in the fast moving world of commerce - the stability of national institutions like the monarchy remind the world that Britain has a sense of honour, order and tradition.
We most definitely would consider applying again.
What do you consider to be the benefits of being a King’s Award holder?
As well as giving TensCare recognition for outstanding service to the community, winning the King’s Award has also given us great encouragement to do better and achieve even more. TensCare’s has had its reputation enhanced: the Award has allowed us to sign new contracts with national and international distributors, which we believe to be down to our success.
