LabLogic Group
The LabLogic Group is a global leader in the manufacture and supply of instrumentation and software for the detection and measurement of radioactivity within highly regulated areas, including Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Power, Defence and Drug Discovery. LabLogic is based in Sheffield and its overseas success has been helped by having dedicated subsidiaries in the US, France and Germany. The Group also includes Southern Scientific Ltd, based in Brighton, and the brands Care Wise and Knight Imaging. Production is carried out in Sheffield and Brighton, with local supply chains accounting for more than two thirds of components for hardware, ranging from machining to screen-printing. Industry-leading software Founded in 1986 by current Group Chairman John Clapham, LabLogic originally produced communications hardware and similar peripherals for laboratory equipment, which was sold both domestically and internationally. The company transitioned to producing its own dedicated lab equipment with a gas chromatography mass spectrometer for the separation of compounds and molecules. Eventually LabLogic began writing software, both to control laboratory instrumentation and to manage the labs themselves, referred to as Laboratory Information Management Systems, or LIMS. LabLogic developed the first radiochromatography software capable of running on Microsoft Windows, which was eventually called Laura and quickly superseded existing software solutions. Today, Laura software is the industry- standard and is compatible with over 1,000 different instruments and modules.
Worldwide reach Production of hardware has increased significantly over the past decade and moved from a 150 sq. ft. room into a 7000 sq. ft. dedicated facility where over 30 different products are designed, built, tested and shipped all over the world from Sheffield. The Group has since exported to over 100 countries, including more than 20 new ones in the last 12 months alone with a presence on all seven continents, including Antarctica, and supplies 18 out of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies. At home, its instruments and software are used in key facilities such as the National Nuclear Laboratory and National Physical Laboratory, while abroad its solutions are found in key research institutes, hospitals, and universities, and includes an exclusive distribution agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency for LabLogic Scan-RAM radio-TLC scanners.
“An incredible honour” Managing Director of the Group Richard Brown says:“To be recognised with the King’s Award for Enterprise is an incredible honour and a testament to our commitment to provide world-class products and services to customers everywhere. I am very proud of the contributions we make to the advancement of healthcare through the solutions we supply to pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and academic institutes researching new cancer treatments. “I’d like to thank everybody across the Group for helping in their own way to make the business internationally successful and to thank our distributors who represent LabLogic’s products on our behalf in their respective countries. Our motto is ‘experience and expertise’, and it is this that has allowed us to position ourselves as world leaders.” LABLOGIC GROUP Europa View, Tinsley, Sheffield S9 1XH Tel: +44 (0)114 266 7267 • www.lablogic.com
