AI GUIDE FOR BOARDS IN SINGAPORE

Section II: Strategy and Value Creation

5.4 Embedding Accountability

5.4.1 Continuous board oversight

AI value realisation requires clear accountability across the organisation.

AI oversight should be treated as an ongoing governance discipline, rather than a one-o evaluation exercise. As use cases mature, boards should expect metrics, targets and reporting expectations to evolve accordingly. Boards should ensure that: • Key performance indicators are reviewed and updated regularly. • Reporting remains focused on business impact. • AI metrics are integrated into enterprise performance dashboards. • Emerging risks are monitored continuously. • Lessons from implementation are incorporated into future initiatives. Eective AI governance requires continuous monitoring, adaptation and organisational learning.

Boards should ensure that: • Ownership for AI outcomes across function is explicitly assigned. • Incentives are aligned with value delivery. • Business leaders remain accountable for operational outcomes. • Technology, risk, legal and business functions collaborate eectively.

AI strategy is a whole-of-organisation capability, not just a technology function.

Responsibility for AI initiatives and business outcomes should remain with the board.

Board oversight should link AI performance to both strategic outcomes and risk management.
