AI GUIDE FOR BOARDS IN SINGAPORE

Section III: Governance and Oversight

Chapter 6: The Regulatory Landscape

Board oversight responsibilities are expanding from passive supervision to active stewardship over how AI is introduced, governed, monitored and scaled across the enterprise. Across all sectors, AI aects customer outcomes, operational resilience, cyber exposure, third-party dependencies and reputational risk proles. Boards must ensure the organisation can demonstrate that AI deployment is controlled, explainable, secure and aligned with the enterprise risk appetite. Organisations that establish evidence-based, regionally-aware governance frameworks

early are likely to be better positioned to scale AI responsibly, satisfy regulators’ scrutiny and sustain stakeholder trust over time. The national initiatives underlying Singapore as a Trusted AI Hub present both opportunity and responsibility. Boards must ensure their organisations are active participants in building Singapore’s position as a trusted and competitive economy.

Responsible AI governance is an enterprise risk and strategic value asset; not an isolated technology concern.
