USE GRIT TO MAKE THINGS BETTER. Everyone gets discouraged. Everyone. Especially because we have a ‘natural-ness’ bias. A hidden, even sub-conscious, preference for people who achieve their goals because they’re naturally ‘talented’. It’s why we gave up piano at 12, or athletics at 13 – we decide we aren’t talented enough. But it is not talent that equals achievement. It is talent multiplied by effort that gives us skills – and then it is skills multiplied by effort that delivers achievement of our goals. And it is grit that fuels those efforts. Grit keeps us going. So when we use grit to help us step up, to help us grow our skills, to help us achieve our goals, we can be all-in. We can keep going to make things even better. And when we do, we find it so much easier to admit our mistakes and be honest about our self-doubt, because that is how we get better and better. And we can say without hesitation:
