Every person has a story.
WE ARE ALL MADE OF STORIES FACT 13
WHAT IT MEANS.
We love stories. We love to tell stories. We love to hear stories. Why are they so powerful?
We are fascinated by people, we are story-spotters and story-listeners, and we know how to make others feel special. The eye contact, the smile, the insightful question, the extra bit of attention. But we also know how it feels to be ‘processed’, to be a task on a checklist. So we go out of our way to bring empathy, and create uniqueness, novelty and a little bit of sparkle in someone’s day.
Berkeley University has found that stories actually shape our brains, bond strangers together and move us to be more empathetic and generous. They have found that as we humans are such social creatures, stories that are personal and are emotionally compelling engage more of our brain, and are better remembered than facts. And it is by knowing someone’s story, even a little bit of their story, that helps us form relationships with strangers.
Because at Accor, we know how to make others feel heard and feel special. Both our guests and our colleagues.
Quite simply, we are day-brighteners. We are quick to see the best in people and we are quick to appreciate, recognise and express gratitude. We spot opportunities to show how much we think of others, and we turn thoughts and ideas into actions. Actions that make our guests feel so welcome that we earn their deepest loyalty.
