Abbey Lens a Year in review 2021-22

BB8Y LENS March 2022 Vol 8: Issue No. Thirty one Excellence Through Partnership

THE

Stoneage! Topic teaser.

ARTEFACTS As part of this term’s History topic of ‘The Stone Age’, Year 3 enjoyed a Stone Age workshop from ‘Portals to the Past’. PTTP visited Year 3 on Friday 4th March 2022 to immerse the children in a range of history activities. This exciting experience involved: handling artefacts; dressing up; looking at a typical day of a Stone Age person and looking at what life was like for humans in Stone Age times. It was a stimulating insight to life in the ancient past. Humans from this era would have worn clothing made from what the land could provide - maybe skins from animals. We learnt about cave-paintings and some of the animals that were alive during that period. We got to handle some replica artefacts including mammoth bones! We also got to handle a variety of weapons used for hunting. Fun Fact: We learnt how it was possible (we think!) to trap and catch a Wooly Mammoth.

Thanks to Mrs. Vickers and Zach, Ansel and Lydia in 3V for the story.
