Ready to take flight! Transition
PERRYFIELDS On Friday 1st July, the whole of year 5 set off on a journey to Perryfields Secondary School. On our adventures, we experienced things all the way from ‘birds of prey’ to ‘flying high on trampolines’. When we got there we sat down with Brandhall to enjoy a show of birds, eagles and owls. We moved on to ICT where we learnt to use coding software ‘ Small Basic’ and programmed a turtle to move around our screens. We learnt how to code the movements and manoeuvre the character to make a square. In the sports hall we all squealed with excitement at the thought of jumping on the amazing trampolines. First we familiarised ourselves with the different types of jumps. By bouncing on the trampolines and leaping off, we mastered the jumps. Then finally the moment came that we had all been waiting for - we took our five bounces of truth! After lunch time, we learnt about Form- time and what it entailed. In a nut-shell, Form is working on ourselves and happiness and helping others who need it. Whilst moving around, we got a glimpse of the huge playground and basketball court. ABBEY TRANSITION DAY On the 6th of July, every year group got a taste of what it would be like in September. We were promoted for the day to year 6! We cheered when we found out our new teacher (sorry Mr P!). Through the day we worked on: Bucket lists; shades of me; looking into the future; task master (based on the show) and a quiz. This happened in every of the year groups so the Y2, soon to be Y3, children enjoyed the bigger playground too. Everyone enjoyed meeting their new teachers. Year 5 is now getting excited about our Year 6 experiences including a residential to Play Gwynant and Blackwell Adventure.
