Wabanaki School - The name Wabanaki, which means "People of the Dawn," was selected to honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. It reflects a hopeful and inclusive spirit that represents both our region and our resilient community. This name is a symbol of our collective journey towards a brighter future and our dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. The involvement of Chief Knockwood and Elder Augustine has been invaluable in this process, ensuring that the name Wabanaki School truly embodies the cultural heritage and aspirations of First Nation Communities. We are grateful for their leadership and guidance. We look forward to continuing our work together in fostering a school environment that celebrates diversity, promotes understanding, and nurtures the growth of every student. What better way to acknowledge the land on which we gather!

Anti-Racism EDUCATION

Want to learn how to build an antiracist lens at work? Your invite you to join me in this FREE Live Online Antiracism Workshop on Wednesday, September 11th, 12 pm-1 pm Eastern Time (ET)! Register for your free workshop ticket If you and your organization are starting on your commitment towards antiracism and equity, or you've already started to take action, this free workshop is for you. What you'll learn in the Free Online Antiracism Workshop: 1. Understand Racism In Canada. A clear introduction to ignite your unlearning & relearning process in critical thinking. Rooting our understanding of today’s racial injustices and white supremacy in the historical impacts of living on stolen land, the cultural genocide of Indigenous peoples, the enslavement of Black people and the racist structures that impact the life outcomes of Black, Indigenous and racialized communities. 2. Learn to hold antiracist conversations at work. It is essential that an antiracist lens is integrated in the decisions we make within our workspaces. Who is being centred? What uncomfortable conversations are you avoiding? What policies and practices at work are creating inequities? We will look at the lens needed to take steps toward community and organizational change, and we will reveal what it looks like to be actively antiracist in the spaces we are in. 3. Learn how to become a true Ally. Allyship requires inner change + measurable action steps at home, at work & in your community. We must ensure that we are moving beyond the performative- theatre ways that allyship is often displayed. We’ll discuss Intention vs. Impact and the harm in white centring as you embark on being a part of the change. **You will get this live training, plus bonus tools and resources! You'll also get access to the live workshop replays.

United Way 211 Information Line - As we know life can be difficult for many of our residents at the best of times, but the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new layer of stress and anxiety for everyone. Information is changing rapidly. Demand for critical social services and community programs has increased and in many cases the way these supports are delivered has had to change. That's why the United Way launched the 211 Service in NB: to help every person find the support they need. 211 is free, confidential, and acts as the front door to support, helping people navigate the complex network of government, community and social programs and services quickly to find what they need for their unique situation. When someone contacts 211, they are connected with a real person who will ask questions about their situation and then suggest programs or services that can help. Often, they can be registered on the spot. This eliminates the stress of trying to wade through the changing information we are all processing each day.

Phones are answered 24/7 in 170 languages.

Whether you are looking for Government Resources, Mental Health Resources, Food Access Resources or Financial Relief Resources 211 can help you.
