250 participants au tournoi de pêche SPORTS

Le traditionnel tournoi de pêche sur glace a attiré environ 250 participants sur la Rivière des Outaouais, le 15 février dernier. Le tout était organisé par les Chevaliers de Colomb deWendover. Environ 75 poissons ont été pesés. En soirée, une foule de 350 personnes s’est jointe au souper. Le plus gros poisson, un doré pesant 7,17 lb a été pêché par Danielle Viau de Wendover. Celle-ci a mérité un montant de 1200 dollars pour sa prise. Chez les enfants, le plus gros poisson, un brochet de 5,66 lb a été capturé par Mickael Viau deWendover. En plus du prix pour le plus gros poisson, un total de 2000 dollars a été remis en prix de participation. Les organisateurs ont tenu à remercier tous les participants ainsi que tous les bénévoles. Un remerciement spécial est également adressé à Jean René Sauvé de Pete’s Minnows, pour son aide. Sur la photo, le tournoi de pêche sur glace est certes une tradition pour cette famille locale. The AlmonteThunderbolts and the Cornwall Saints clashed on the basketball court in Hammond at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic High School. SFX hosted this season’s Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association playoffs for single-A junior basketball on Feb. 19. The Bolts and the Saints were two of the top contenders for the EOSSAA title this season. While SFX was host for the juniors tournament the Falcons were not on the play list due to a couple of one-point losses in the regular reason.
