16 | JACKSONVILLE TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY | NW JACKSONVILLE CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS This project also provides additional improvements to bus stops by focusing on locations near transit dependent properties (i.e., assisted living facilities) in underserved areas of the county, including the Northwest Jacksonville area. Improvements include new amenities (shelters, poles, leaning benches, etc.) and lighting. ART COMMISSION 3. “Rivalry” by Erin Kendrick PROJECT BACKGROUND The Northwest Jacksonville Corridor Improvements project is a priority project in the MOBILITYWORKS 2.0 infrastructure investment program to improve 111 bus stops within Northwest Jacksonville. Stops will also be upgraded for ADA compliance and appropriate amenities in line with ridership needs. An early phase of this project includes improvements for seven (7) stops located along Soutel Drive and Moncrief Road. Local artists were sought to submit artwork for installation at up to 7 bus shelters as components of the project. Proposed designs would be transferred to several functional shelters for JTA riders, as quality works of public art.
