premium materials for the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, the site of the 2025 U.S. Open on June 12–15. This prestigious 120-year-old club has hosted nine U.S. Opens, a higher number than any other venue. Famed competitors who had already qualified as our newsletter went to press include Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and the storied Phil Mickelson. We look forward to watching these superstars relax on a summer evening and enjoy our work. Oakmont was founded in 1904 by Henry Fownes, an iron and steel magnate who loved golf. The club has hosted 20 national championships since 1919, and it remains to this day one of the toughest courses for pros. Oakmont ranks with Augusta and Pine Valley as one of the most iconic golf courses in the nation, and its reputation shows no signs of fading. The club is slated to host the U.S. Open again in 2033, 2042, and 2049. We were proud that Oakmont engaged us ahead of this year’s U.S. Open to replace its previous deck. Our in- house team performed all the design services, including the creation of architectural drawings. We chose a deck design and premium deckboard that harmonized with Oakmont’s traditional green-and-white colors and classic architecture. We always follow the traditional “measure
twice, cut once” principle. And because we handle all of those processes in-house, our projects invariably go smoothly after we begin work. Our turnkey service for Oakmont was the same process we offer any of our deck and outdoor living space customers. The first step was a thorough inspection of the site and surrounding area to explore any issues we might need to address. We then went through a detailed design process to ensure the materials, colors, and aesthetics we chose were exactly what the client wanted. In the next step, our production team handled drawings, design work, and the final design and delivered stamped drawings to the municipality to apply for a building permit. Finally, our master carpenter met with Oakmont officials to reconfirm the design, colors, and detailed plans. Oakmont’s deckboard is made of premium custom-fabricated, fiberglass-reinforced composite polymer material, hardy enough to withstand constant beatings by users wearing golf spikes. The plastic content in composite decking can cause static electricity, so we subjected the deckboards to an anti-static treatment. The last thing we need is a call from Rory McIlroy complaining that he got zapped walking on our deck! We installed special features, including lighting on the posts and the risers beneath the stairs. We also added a drink rail to hold members’ glasses, cocktails, and ashtrays while they relax on the deck. We are pleased to have served Oakmont’s unique needs and proud our start- to-finish design, planning, and building process resulted in a deck that blends perfectly with Oakmont’s classic, understated elegance. As you dream about improvements to your own home this spring, consider asking us to create a turnkey deck or outdoor space for you! We would love to help you achieve your dreams for your home.

Common Reasons Your Shower Is Cold Why Does My Water Take So Long to Get Hot?
in rented spaces). However, for most homes, changing the heat to a higher setting only requires manually adjusting the temperature to the desired degree. Also, consider the time it takes for the hot water to reach the tap. You may set the temperature to a specific degree, but it may be a few degrees cooler when it reaches you. The water heater is too far from the shower. Ideally, water heaters are placed centrally in a home, but that isn’t always the case. Basements and laundry closets are common areas for water heaters, and in many instances, they are a good distance away from the kitchen or bathrooms. When this is an issue, it can take some time for the water to heat.
Having hot water is a luxury many enjoy, but it can be frustrating when the water takes too long to heat up. A lag in hot water temperature can be due to many factors, including uninsulated pipes, lower water temperature settings, or something as simple as not realizing the knob isn’t turned all the way. No matter the case, anyone’s patience can grow thin when waiting on hot water, especially when they desperately need the pampering of a relaxing bath or shower. Before frustration sets in and you take a hammer to the tap, here are three common culprits preventing your water from getting hot enough, fast enough! The water heater is set to a lower temperature. Most water heaters have adjustable control settings (except for heaters
The pipes aren’t insulated. Areas like an unfinished basement or crawlspace can be the culprits for slow-heating water. As the warm water passes through the pipes, the pipes warm up, but that can take time. Depending on the location of the pipes, you can insulate them, but if it’s not worth the time or effort, it’s best to have a little more patience with your water heater!

Cutting-Edge Sunrooms Offer Sheltered Light, Fresh Air BRIGHT IDEA Many homeowners yearn for sheltered outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy fresh air. We have been seeing a sharp increase in demand for aesthetically pleasing outdoor living designs that offer shelter from bugs and weather without blocking all the sunlight. We are excited to announce that we are now the exclusive Pittsburgh-area dealer of Sunspace Sunrooms, a maker of innovative custom sunrooms that create that light, open-air feeling while offering shelter from UV rays, bugs, and harsh weather. Sunspace’s modular sunrooms come in a variety of designs and colors. Its vinyl windows look like glass, and they can be opened on all three sides or closed when the weather requires, creating a room useful for three seasons of the year. Sunspace also offers an acrylic roof system that allows light to pass through while blocking UV rays. This presents an advantage over conventional patio roofs that block most light from a home’s interior. The company’s Model 200 sunroom has a fixed-light transom system in vinyl or glass. The product comes in seven different colors, with three choices of light filtering levels. The Model 200 offers either a studio or gable-style roof. Sunspace also offers different exterior materials to harmonize with the appearance of your home. Sunspace’s Model 100 studio version is a fully screened addition with either a swinging or sliding screen door. This model is Sunspace’s most economical way to get started in a sunroom. Its walls are designed to allow homeowners to add solid windows later if they want.

The Secrets to Perfectly Styled Shelves
Shelf Styling Made Easy
Turn Your Shelves Into a Showstopper
Styling your shelves is an opportunity to let your creativity run wild! With a few thoughtful tweaks, your shelves can go from cluttered chaos to chic and cohesive. Embrace the ‘love it or leave it’ rule. If it’s not practical, sentimental, or something you absolutely adore, it
doesn’t belong on your shelf. A few well-placed pieces can be far more striking than an overcrowded display. Pick a palette, not a paint splatter. Stick to a cohesive palette to avoid a jumble of clashing colors. Pair whites with soft creams, metallics, and neutrals for a sophisticated look. Add artwork for personality. Lean a piece of art against the back or hang it on the molding for extra flair. It doesn’t have to be fancy — a framed kid’s drawing can add the character your shelves need to pop. Play with texture and height. Mix in baskets, wooden objects, or textured vases to keep things
interesting. Combine varying heights and sizes, but stay true to your palette.
