chalk talk introduce the book. Illus trated by the author. 136 pages. Standard Publishing Company, Cin cinnati, Ohio. Paper $1.00. BLOSSOM OF THE C R A G By Marie Bouham A charming story of a young .Chi nese girl who did want to know how a person could live again but was strictly forbidden to “ eat the Jesus religion.” How the war affected Cloud’s home and way of life, and how she found the answer to her question is the theme of this book. This is an excellent story for ado lescents. It is sympathetically written, with much Chinese local color; it has a strong spiritual message, without being preachy. 208 pages. China In land Mission, Philadelphia, Pa. Cloth. Price $1.25. The revival sermons in this book are designed to give the common man enough knowledge of what God has spoken to bring him to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Lawrence, one of the executive secretaries of the Southern Baptist Convention simply, reverently, practically and progres sively covers the scope of salvation. 187 pages. Fleming H. Lawrence 2,000 members of the Disciples of Christ whose principles differ only slightly from those of the Baptists. Tighter Rules J* The General Assembly of the Presbyterian C h u r c h moved to tighten regulations on the remarriage of divorced persons. Delegates to the Assembly were expected to approve the report on marriage and divorce which suggested more rigid restric tions on divorce and remarriage. For several years t h e Presbyterian Church has permitted its clergymen to perform remarriages only after the period of a year has elapsed. Pas tors are also obligated to refuse to marry members of other denomina tions whose reason for divorce and remarriage is prohibited by the laws of the church. Warning Against Arabs Returning from a recent study tour of Israel, 13 American Christian leaders declared that the arms and munitions which Britain is supplying to the Arab states could be used for a new blitz attack on Israel. Further more,, the failure of both American The Bible in the News (Continued from Page SO ) •

and British governments to respond to Israel’s request for arms indicates a discriminating policy. The 13 lead ers called upon our Secretary of State to halt the shipment of arms to Arab nations until peace with Israel is signed, and to further grant Israel the right to purchase arms in the United States as a possible deterrent to further aggression in the Near East. This casts an interesting sidelight on the Scripture prophecy that during the last days Israel will be a nation unarmed, possibly whose physical in tegrity is guaranteed by a League of Nations. VOLUME III OF GREAT PUL PIT MASTERS SERIES. Introduction by William Culbertson. The world has known few great preachers. R. A. Torrey was one of them. It is fitting at this time when a casual gospel talk is dignified by the title “ sermon” that we have these fifteen selected messages from the pen of Dr. Torrey to set a stand ard. There is content here, and logic, plus an insistent pressing home of the claims of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the individual. There is also a glimpse into the spiritual secret of the preach er. 256 pages. Fleming H. Revell Co., New York, N. Y. Cloth. Price $2.25.
