it repenteth me that I have made them." One of the great notes of compassion is the simple state­ ment, “ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." He was a just man and walked close to God. In that day, apparently, not too unlike some areas of our society, the whole human race was in re­ bellion against God with the ex­ ception of Noah, his three sons, and their wives. It is interesting to note that when God makes a final statement, He not only pronounces judgment on those who rebel against Him, but also He offers a way of escape and salvation to those who are willing to accept His provisions. Something very strange had tak­ en place as the first two verses of this sixth chapter indicate. Based on careful study of these passages Page 45

CAUSE OF THE FLOOD Dr. Crosvenor, Editor of The Na­ tional Geographic Magazine, once declared, “ If the ark of Noah is ever uncovered, it will be the great­ est archeological discovery in all of history." It is my persuasion that it is still resting on top of Mt. Ara­ rat, in the land of Turkey. Perhaps one of these days in the provi­ dence of God, He will allow it to be uncovered. In Genesis 6 we have the story of Noah, which will bear close scrutiny. God always sees what man purposes in his heart (vs. 5). His Spirit will not always strive with this race of fallen sinners. Those days were obviously very evil, their thoughts filled with wick­ edness. The Lord purposed, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth . . . for
