believe it is now, presumably it would have been carried down the mountain by the glacier, and it would have been gone. The fact that it is apparently in this cove where it is locked in a stationary glacier, the rest of the glacier is moving, but inside this cove it cannot move. This indicates to me that God wants to preserve it. The wood that has been found up there has all been saturated with a black bituminous preservative. If the ark has been saved for some moment in history, why would this be? I believe God wanted it to be saved until the end time, when the world of un belief continues rejection of God's Son and salvation as they did in the days of Noah. Can you imag ine the impact such a discovery will have upon the world? Many of them have scoffed at the re liability of the Bible. These are great days in which to be alive. Plans are now being made to send more expeditions to the moun tain. It is a very delicate situation since the area is in Turkey and is very close to the Russian border where there is a nearby missile field. We must trust God and be lieve that He is sovereign. In due time His will may be done. See what the Lord is doing and walk with Him. We trust the Holy Spirit to lead us in this as well as every other area of our lives. Rev. Meyer is a widely traveled lecturer at Christian conferences specializing in Bible Prophecy.

they had taken while flying over Mt. Ararat. The ice had melted down and the form of the ark could be seen. At that time no questions were allowed to be asked since the material was the property of the Soviet Union. Sometime later the two met again with more pictures displayed. They were more recent in vintage. In these the ark was about half covered with ice. There was no specific expedition apart from the Russian aerial photos. Somehow it seems that God has not allowed this situation to be come public knowledge up to now. In 1950, a French mountain climber went up but found nothing since apparently the ice had covered the area over. In 1955 when he made his third ascent, he found a crevasse in the ice which was 37 feet deep. Going down inside he could look into the walls of the ice. There he saw a hand cut beam one hundred fifty feet long. He hacked a piece of it away and brought it back to be checked. No one could agree on the age of it. Estimates range from 500 years to 5000 years. It is black and soaked with a bituminous substance so that it is well preserved. Furthermore, the location of this is in a cove surrounded by rocky ridges with a narrow gorge at one end. The whole mountain is an ice cap of 171/2 square miles of ice and 65 peaks. This is why the Bible refers to it as "the mountains of Ararat." There is one giant moun tain rising out of the plains almost 17,000 feet high. The big moun tain is 500 square miles at the base. It is a glacier and the ice is slowly moving down the mountain on all sides. You see, if the ark had rested anywhere else except where we
